Introduction of methylene dithiocyanate
Methylene dithiocyanate(CAS 6317-18-6), alias MBT or Methylene bis(thiocyanate), is broadly effective and environment-friendly fungicide, which can be used to against many bacteria, fungi, yeast and algae. Methylene dithiocyanate is pale yellow crystalline powder, decomposes in water, slightly soluble in organic solvents.
Usage and the effect of methylene dithiocyanate
Methylene dithiocyanate can be used as industrial anti-mildew agent, it has good anti-mildew, antisepsis and sterilization effect in bamboo and wood products, electrical materials, coating, rubber, leather, canvas, pulp and ink, etc.
Methylene dithiocyanate displays strong extermination effects against germs, fungus, and algae existing in circulating water. It has long-term effects and is applicable to broad PH value and temperature ranges. 3-4 ppm MBT kills over 90% of nitrosation germs, sulfate reducing germs, colon bacillus, anti-nitrosation germs and many other types of germs. MBT liquid is stable, and it can decompose shortly in application. It has analysis method and is easy for monitoring, so it is safe for discharge.
Methylene dithiocyanate can reduce oil layer contamination to increase oil production. It can also be used to protect packing paper from going molding, treat circulating cooling water, and remove marine organisms from marine liners. It also has excellent effects of anti-corrosion, germicide and algaecide for electrical materials, bamboo and wooden ware, coatings, rubber, canvas, glue and ink.
As a pesticide, MBT can be prepared into 10% MBT emulsion. It is an efficient, broad-spectrum and safe fungicide for crops. It is good for the disease of rice disease, dry point nematodes disease, network spot disease, and stem smut, and it has good effect on other diseases caused by bacterial fungi and nematode worms. MBT also can be made of safe fish medicine to prevent many kinds of fish disease. It is a good disinfectant in the water for various breed aquatics.
