1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone (DMI) is a strong polar aprotic solvent. It can replace carcinogenic HMPA. The performance of DMI is superior to ordinary inert solvent DMSO and DMF. It has good solubility for resin, inorganic compounds, organic compounds, polymers, etc.  The solvent can improve the safety of industrial production, reduce the environment pollution and improve the quality of products, so DMI is called “Ace solvent”.

The characteristics of DMI

DMI is a strong polar aprotic solvent, the carbonyl has strong electron-withdrawing effect. It has high boiling point, high flash point, low melting point etc, which makes it operate conveniently in the filtration, distillation, solvent extraction and other process. DMI is easily recyclable. It is low toxicity and less harmful to human.

DMI is a highly soluble solvent that can dissolve organic, inorganic, resin, polymers, etc. It also is miscible with other high boiling solvent. It has activation properties for a variety of solvents, and it can replace DMSO, HMPA, etc. So it is an excellent reactive solvent.

DMI is a stable solvent, which stays stable in the hot alkali and acidic conditions. It has water resistance and light and oxygen stability. Therefore, the application of DMI to organic chemical reactions can promote the dissolution of reactants, speed up the reaction rate, improve the reaction yield and product quality.
